ATMOSPHERE

Gas Awareness on Every Flight.

NevadaNano MPS · 14 flammable gases · 15-year sensor life

Every Scout 137 flight includes continuous flammable-gas detection: built in, calibrated at the factory and logged with position and time. When the atmosphere changes, the inspector is alerted within 20 seconds. It supports your entry-clearance procedure and does not replace it.

WHY IT WORKS

Catches What Nobody Planned For, on Every Flight.

The drone always operates in a safe atmosphere. The Gas Sensor is there for the hazard nobody expected.

14 Flammable Gases, One Sensor

The NevadaNano MPS detects, measures and classifies 14 flammable gases, including methane, propane, hydrogen and butane, across the full 0–100 %LEL range using the TrueLEL™ multi-gas algorithm. Unlike catalytic-bead sensors, it is not affected by poisoning or saturation, and its factory calibration lasts 15+ years with no field calibration.

One sensor covers methane in an offshore separator, butane in an LPG vessel and hydrogen in a refinery sample line, with nothing to swap.

Position and Time in Every Reading

Each gas reading is stored with its position and timestamp against the LiDAR 3D map of the asset, so the flight dataset holds a full record of where every %LEL value was measured.

This location data is not yet shown on a map in Scout Operator, Companion or Scout Portal, but it is kept in the dataset for later analysis or export.

DESIGNED IN

Safety as Standard, Not an Upgrade.

Scout 137 gas detection drone underside showing the gas sensor, carbon-fibre frame, tether port and LiDAR

Comes as Standard

The sensor sits in the smartbox underside, and gas reaches it through a grille and foam vent. Nothing to mount and nothing to swap.

Carbon-Fibre Frame

The whole frame is electrically continuous and connected to the tether, so no isolated charge can build up into a spark. Light, stiff and grounded by design.

Tether Port

The tether supplies power, grounds the chassis and carries live data to Scout Operator. Battery-free and zero-RF by design, with a third-party propane-chamber test showing no ignition.

HONEST ABOUT IGNITION

Scout 137 Is Not ATEX-Certified, and No Inspection Drone in Its Class Is.

ATEX was written for fixed equipment inside a defined enclosure, which makes approval very hard for a flying platform. Scout 137 was designed for verifiable ignition safety from the start:

  • Zero RF: no transmitters, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular or GPS.
  • Battery-free: power comes through the tether.
  • Chassis grounded: held at ground potential through the tether.
  • Static dissipated: the tether continuously discharges any build-up.
  • Propane-chamber tested: third-party test, over an hour with no ignition.

The sensor itself is intrinsically safe certified under ATEX, IECEx, UL, FM and CSA (S4 format), and complies with EN 50271 and IEC 60079-29-1. Combined with your operating procedure, this lets Scout 137 work safely in places people should not enter.

HOW IT WORKS

No Extra Workflow.

The sensor is already on the drone. It switches on with the drone, runs in the background of every inspection and records alongside the rest of the flight.

01

Power On

The sensor activates automatically with the drone. Initialisation takes 1–2 minutes, and its status appears in the Scout Operator panel.

02

Fly

Fly your inspection as usual. The sensor reads the atmosphere continuously while everything else is captured, with no extra steps.

03

Watch

Live %LEL and ambient temperature stream to Scout Operator. If the atmosphere changes, the inspector sees it within 20 seconds, not the next day. Warnings trigger automatically at 20 and 40 %LEL.

04

Record

Every reading is saved with the flight data: %LEL, temperature, position and timestamp.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which gases can the Scout 137 Gas Sensor detect?

14 flammable gases: methane, butane, ethane, hydrogen, isobutane, isobutylene, methyl ethyl ketone, pentane, propylene, propane, isopropanol, octane, toluene and xylene, across 0–100 %LEL.

How fast is the inspector alerted?

The sensor’s response time (T90) is under 20 seconds. Live %LEL and temperature appear in Scout Operator, with automatic warnings at 20 and 40 %LEL.

Does the sensor need calibration?

No field calibration is needed. The sensor is factory calibrated, has a life of 15+ years and runs power-on and built-in self-tests.

Is the Scout 137 ATEX-certified?

No. The drone is not ATEX-certified, but it is designed for ignition safety: zero RF, battery-free, grounded through the tether and propane-chamber tested. The sensor component itself is certified under ATEX Zone 0, IECEx, UL, FM and CSA. It supports, but does not replace, your entry-clearance procedure.

Can I get the Scout 137 Gas Sensor in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. NineTenths handles quote requests in Saudi Arabia. Contact us at info@9tenthsco.com or 920015910 for pricing and availability.
